An internship program has been established by the Oil, Gas and Energy Resources Law (OGERL) Section of the State Bar of Texas to provide law students with a demonstrated interest in oil, gas and energy resources law the opportunity to obtain practical experience and exposure to the oil, gas and energy sector. Under this Program, the OGERL Section may sponsor a summer internship at one or more of the following: (1) the Public Utility Commission of Texas; (2) the Texas General Land Office; (3) the Railroad Commission of Texas; (4) the University Lands System; (5) the Electric Reliability Council of Texas; and (6) Office of Public Utility Counsel. The internships will last six weeks during the summer. A stipend of $5,000 will be paid to the selected candidates by the Section upon completion of the internship. The entities will make the final hiring decisions, and such decisions may be subject to additional background checks or requests to be made by the entities.
